Speaking at the post-match press conference at Chile friendly, Turkey coach Fatih Terim emphasized that winning a friendly match is still important and told that Turkish players learnt to win now."

"That was our first and last friendly match before our first qualifiers against Armenia. Time to time Chilean side looked readier than us, had chances the score but it was important to know how to win the game. That was important and I am happy we achieved it" Terim continued.

"There are many injured players in our squad. Some of them were serious and it could have been a problem if we had fielded tham against Chile. There are some others who will be able to play this weekend. We had removed them from the squad not to risk their league and European club competition matches" he added.

Terim praised the young players in the national side, by saying: "Their ambition, contribution to the match and ready-to-serve condition are cheering us up. Turkish national team will play better as they get wins. If we can play with our ideal squad, we will play better football. It wasn't easy to concentrate on this competitive football on the eve of the start of the league but they achieved them."

Meanwhile, Chile coach Marcelo Bielsa said it was a hard match for two powerful sides and congratuled the Turkish national team.
