Turkish Football Federation president Hasan Doğan has announced that Fatih Terim will remain in charge of Turkey until 2012, extending his contract for two years which would expire in 2010. Dogan said on Tuesday that he had  proposed the two-year contract extension in a meeting with Terim ahead of a federation board meeting. "He accepted our proposal, thanking us for the trust in him and saying he was happy to be coach of the national team and that work with the management was harmonious," he said.

Terim guided Turkey to their first European Championship semi-final with several impressive performances against Switzerland, Czech Republic, Croatia and Germany marked by late goals in the group and knockout stages.
