Turkish Football Federation board of directors had a meeting at Riva Hasan Doğan National Teams training and education facilities on 4 July 2018 and decided to name the upcoming Super League season as 'Lefter Küçükandonyadis Spor Toto Super League Season.'

Lefter Küçükandonyadis 'Professor of Football,' is one of the legendary names of Turkish National Football Team and Fenerbahçe, has contributed so much to Turkish football and gained the love and respect of all the country.

On the past 4 seasons, Super Leage has been named in the memory of Süleyman Seba, Hasan Doğan, Turgay Şeren and İlhan Cavcav.

Lefter Küçükandonyadis

Lefter Küçükandonyadis was born in December 25, 1925, in Büyükada, İstanbul. As a football player, Lefter played for Taksimspor for 2 seasons and moved to Fenerbahçe in 1947. He has also played for Italian club Fiorentina between 1951-1952 and for French club Nice between 1952-1953. He has been the top scorer of 1953-1954 season and he has scored 423 goals in 615 games in his Fenerbahçe career.

Lefter has sored 843 goals throughout his playing career. His exceptional intelligence of playing football and scoring goals deserved him the 'Professor of Football' nickname and the slogan: "Ver Lefter'e, yazsın deftere" which means "Pass the ball to him and he will score somehow."

Lefter Küçükandonyadis has scored 21 goals for the national teams and he represent his country 9 times as the captain of the team. He has played 50 times for his country and he is the first ever player to be awarded "Golden Medal of Honor" by Turkish Football Federation.

After ending his senior football career in 1964, Lefter Küçükandonyadis took charge as a player-coach at Greek club AEK Egaleo and South African club Johannesburg. He also managed Mersin İdman Yurdu, Boluspor, Samsunspor, Sivasspor and Ordurspor as head coach. Küçükandonyadis has also worked as a sports writer.

Lefter Küçükandonyadis has a sculpture of him in Kadıköy Kuşdili Park, which was built on May 3, 2009. He passed away on January 13, 2012.
