Turkish Football Federation (TFF), has officially submitted its bid dossier to host UEFA EURO 2024.
The ceremony was held today at UEFA's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. TFF President Yıldırım Demirören handed the bid dossier to UEFA General Secretary Theodore Theodoridis.
TFF President was accompanied by UEFA Executive Committee Member and TFF First Vice President Servet Yardımcı, Vice President Ali Dürüst, Administrative and Executive Committee Member Cengiz Zülfikaroğlu, Executive Committee Members Mustafa Çağlar and Alaattin Aykaç, General Secretary Kadir Kardaş and Turkey's UEFA EURO 2024 candidacy ambassador Barış Telli.
Turkey's UEFA EURO 2024 bid dossier includes technical details of the candidacy process, government guarantees, support letters, brochure and other additional documents. Turkey applied for the UEFA EURO 2024 candidacy on 2 March 2017.
The country that will host UEFA EURO 2024 will be announced on 27 September 2018, following UEFA's Executive Committee decision.
Yıldırım Demirören: "Best bid ever with an unprecedented state support"
Turkish Football Federation President Yıldırım Demirören said: "We are pleased to present the Turkish bid for UEFA EURO 2024 to UEFA General Secretary today. I am also delighted to announce that our federation, which is bidding for the fourth consecutive time, has prepared the best bid ever and has secured unrivalled Government support. All guarantees are given without any reservations, with some additional and innovative guarantees that will ensure the financial success of the tournament, benefitting all UEFA member associations. It's now our time and we are ready to 'SHARE TOGETHER' with the whole of Europe."
Servet Yardımcı: "It's now time for Turkey"
UEFA Executive Committee Member Servet Yardımcı said: "It's a historic day for Turkish football and we are pleased to present our bid which we believe is the best. When we handed over our dossier in 2010 for EURO 2016, we had our commitments. Eight years later today, we have on these and delivered even more. Turkey is renowned for its determination and commitment and it is now time for Turkey to host its first ever UEFA EURO tournament."
Barış Telli: "This hosting will leave an amazing legacy"
Turkey's UEFA EURO 2024 candidacy ambassador Barış Telli said: "The proudest moment in my life was wearing the national team jersey in front of 40,000 spectators in Istanbul, when we were crowned as champions of Europe. I want the Turkish youth to dream of playing in a European Championship like myself and I believe the time has come for Turkey to host a UEFA EURO. Apart from being an excellent bid, hosting the tournament will leave an amazing legacy for our country. As an amputee player, I got my chance thanks to the excellent work of TFF. Awarding Turkey the UEFA EURO 2024 will give more people like myself the opportunity to play football."
