Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has been appointed by UEFA Executive Committee to host 36th UEFA Congress on March 2012.

The host of 2012 UEFA Congress was announced after the UEFA Executive Committee's meeting in Paris at today by a press conference.

When, TFF had sent its bid dossier to UEFA on January, it was stated that UEFA Congress will be held in İstanbul Congress Center, İstanbul, Turkey with the participation of senior representatives from UEFA's 53 member national associations. The dossier also consists the invitation letter from Mahmut Özgener, TFF President.

After the announcement, TFF President Mahmut Özgener said: ''We are proud to host the senior representatives from UEFA's 53 member national associations, who have a voice in world and European football, also  along with over 150 media representatives. This congress has secured the aim of İstanbul to be the capital of the football organizations. We thank to our honourary president, UEFA Vice President and FIFA Executive Committee Member, Mr. Şenes Erzik, for his contribution to host the 2012 UEFA Congress.


Turkey has hosted the UEFA Congress only once before which was in 1978.

Participants of UEFA Congress discuss the following issues on the agenda:

- Highlighting the past year's activities within European football's governing body
- Reporting of UEFA's standing committees on their respective committee's work.
- Approval the reports of the UEFA president/Executive Committee and the UEFA administration, as well as UEFA's financial accounts for the past year, and the strategic financial outlook the budget for the coming seasons.
