TFF to introduce A2 national team
Share |
At Turkey Head Coach Guus Hiddink's request, Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has decided to establish the "A2 National Team" in order to enlarge the talent pool, feeding the senior national team and closely monitor the progress of older players who are ineligible to take part in Under-21 games.  The new structure will be led by the Dutch coach.

A2 National Team organisation will primarily focus on players who were born on years 1987, 1988 and 1989 and it will be responsible for the preparation of those footballers for the senior team. For this purpose, under the supervision of the senior national team coaching staff, the scouting team will neatly follow first, second and third divisions in order to spot the performances of players in the above-mentioned age groups. They will also have extensive communication with the coaches of clubs for ensuring a close dialogue about the players. Foreign-based Turkish players will be similarly followed.

A2 National Team targets to ease players' transition from Under-21 to the senior national side, closely observe the development players who struggle within this period and increase the experience of players with more international games by clearly showing them a target.

Head Coach Hiddink and his staff plan to create a strong coordination between the senior and A2 national teams by naming an A2 squad in the same period when there is a "A" Team match. Thus, the activities will comply with the FIFA calendar.

A2 National Team's first camp will be in Istanbul between 14-17 November. In the first half of 2011, they will have three more camps (9 February, 25-29 March and 3-7 June) and play several friendly matches.

A National Team Coaches Fuat Usta and Erdal Keser will conduct A2 National Team activities under the supervision of Turkey Head Coach Guus Hiddink.
