Turkish Football Federation announced the logo for the bid of Euro 2016 candidacy with a ceremony at Swissotel in İstanbul.

Sports Minister Faruk Nafız Özak, TFF President Mahmut Özgener and TFF Honorary President Şenes Erzik attended the event organized by the Euro 2016 bidding team.

Turkish bid team project leader Orhan Gorbon announced the logo of the bid along with U15 National Team Player Gökhan Sürücü .

The new logo is significant because it communicates Turkish tradition of football, emotion and hospitality, all aspects of modern day Turkish culture. The shapes of the ribbons on the football are directly derived from the tulip, a flower that thrives in Turkey and is a primary element in Turkish art.

The Turkish style of art is called  "Ebru" and is central to the logo design.  This technique consists of applying paint to a canvas and dragging a stick through it to achieve the desired effect. In such a way, the tulip form of the logo has been created using Ebru-style brush strokes. The different colors of the mark symbolize the many different "versions of Turkey" for visitors to discover.

From a cultural perspective, Turkish people have learned to adapt to many different ethnicities and religions traveling and living within its borders over thousands of years. This has helped shape the culture of modern-day Turkey into something which all cultures can find something familiar.

The new logo helps to capture the feeling of excitement and growth within the country, as well as the beauty inherent in Turkish landscape.

TFF President Mahmut Özgener focused on the Turkish Football Federation's strategic plan and overlapping values of the plan with UEFA Euro Vision. Özgener also thanked Turkish Republic government on behalf of Minister Özak for the support and signing of the guarantees. Özgener confidently noted that hosting the Euro 2016 will have a revolutionary effect on Turkish football and will trigger a change of ideology that will take decades to only several years.

Sports Minister Faruk Nafiz Özak mentioned the full support of Turkish government and emphasized on the bid being a pride of national cause. Özak also mentioned that Euro 2016 will enhance the already planned transportation and telecommunication infrastructures along with new stadiums.
