Turkish Football Federation President İbrahim Ethem Hacıosmanoğlu attended UEFA Executive Committee Meeting held in Istanbul.

Representing TFF at the meeting, which took place at Swissôtel The Bosphorus in Beşiktaş, were President Hacıosmanoğlu and General Secretary Abdullah Ayaz, alongside UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin and presidents and senior executives of UEFA member associations. Prior to the meeting, UEFA President Čeferin presented a commemorative plaque to TFF President Hacıosmanoğlu.

During the meeting, key topics currently on the agenda of European football were discussed, with UEFA men's national team competition formats reviewed in detail. Following consultations with representatives of all member associations, it was decided that the new competition formats will be implemented after UEFA EURO 2028. The new formats will be submitted for final approval at UEFA Executive Committee Meeting in September, following further evaluations to be carried out over the coming months. After that meeting, the new formats will be officially introduced to the public in full detail.

Commenting on the new formats, UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin said: "The new formats will improve competitive balance, reduce the number of dead matches, offer a more appealing and dynamic competition to fans, while ensuring a fair qualification chance for all teams and without adding any additional dates in the international calendar. Altogether, the changes will grow the value of UEFA men's national team football and we are very much looking forward to the implementation of the new competition systems."

The next UEFA Executive Committee Meeting will take place in the city of Thessaloniki, Greece, on 15 September 2026.
