Türkiye National Team defeated Romania 1-0 in the final match of FIFA World Cup 2026 European qualifiers play-off round and proceeded to the World Cup for the 4th time in their history after a long wait of 24 years. The match was played at Fadil Vokrri Stadium in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo. The goal which led Türkiye to victory came from Kerem Aktürkoğlu.

Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President İbrahim Ethem Hacıosmanoğlu, Football Federation of Kosovo (FFK) President Agim Ademi and board members of both federations followed the match from the stands as well as Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Türkiye's Ambassador to Pristina Sabri Tunç Angılı and Commander of NATO's Peacekeeping Force in Kosovo, Major General Özkan Ulutaş.

Türkiye National Team will compete in Group D of FIFA World Cup 2026 against United States, Paraguay, and Australia. A total of 48 teams will compete in twelve groups of four at FIFA World Cup 2026, with 104 matches to be played throughout the tournament. The opening match will take place on 11 June 2026 at the 83,000-seat Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, Mexico, between Mexico and South Africa. The final match of FIFA World Cup 2026 will be played on 19 July 2026 at the 82,500-seat MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA.
