The 14th edition of the Mercedes-Benz Aegean Cup 2013 will be held between 21-26 January in Manisa. Eight U16 national teams will participate into the cup.
Along with host Turkey; Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Ukraine, Belgium, Norway and Greece will join the tournament.
The matches will be played in Akhisar Ilçe, Turgutlu 7 Eylül, Kula Ilçe, Soma Atatürk, Sart, Salihli Ramiz Turhan and Saruhanli Ilçe stadiums.
Mercedes-Benz Aegean Cup is among prestigious international tournaments in this age category. The Cup continues its tradition to be a showcase for various youth national teams for 14 years and 20 different countries participated so far. Started under the name "Bora Öztürk Tournament" in 1999 with the participation of Turkey, Romania and Russia, is being organized as "Aegean Cup since 2002. Originally played as a U15 level tournament, Aegean Cup's age level was first pushed to U17 in 2002 before being pulled back to U16 in 2004.
Turkey were crowned champions 6 times in the cup which was first held in 1999, France won five times, whereas Ukraine, Russia lifted the trophy once. The tournament was not held in 2005.
