This match represents more than just a qualification fixture; it also carries deep historical significance for Turkish football. Our National Team played its first-ever international match against Romania on 26 October 1923, three days before the proclamation of our Republic, and that match ended in a 2–2 draw. Since then, Romania has become the opponent we have faced most frequently in our history, and we take great pride in sharing this excitement once again. Football is not only about competition; it is also one of the most powerful ways of bringing people together through friendship, unity and shared values. We are delighted to welcome Romania, an opponent that holds a special place in our football history, once again in our country, and we believe that the unifying power of this beautiful game will further strengthen the friendly relations between two nations. On this meaningful football evening, I hope that, as always, the spirit of Fair Play will prevail and that all the beauty of the game will be on display. I would like to welcome the officials of Romanian Football Federation, as well as our former National Team Head Coach Mircea Lucescu, who has made valuable contributions to Turkish football, his technical staff and players to our country. I also wish an enjoyable match to our supporters who will fill Be ş ikta ş Park and stand behind our team until the very end, and to all football fans..
