Fenerbahçe SK have made a bright start to their domestic campaign by collecting the Turkish Super Cup trophy after a 2-0 win over arch-rivals Beşiktaş JK at Atatürk Olympic Stadium.

Super Cup which was traditionally staged in Germany on three previous occasions, took place in a local stadium for the first time.

On 75 minutes Fenerbahçe captain Alex put his side ahead from the spot as Beşiktaş's Tomas Sivok handballed in the penalty area. With their rivals lost morale and concentration, Fenerbahçe struck their second within the injury time with Alex who produced a diving header to Daniel Güiza's right-wing cross.
