Turkish Football Federation has agreed a 1-year contract with Fatih Terim for Turkish A National Team Head Coach.

Terim signed his contract today in TFF Headquarters, İstanbul with the participation of TFF President Yıldırım Demirören, TFF Executive Board and TFF General Secretary.

Fatih Terim will take charge of Turkey for the rest of their 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, starting next month, while remaining in his role as coach of Galatasaray.

After the sign ceremony, President Demirören mentioned as ''Turkish football has many problems especially in youth level. Therefore; we wanted to appoint Mr. Terim as A National Team Head Coach who can solve these problems with his experience, successes in the past and his passion. Mr. Terim will be head coach of both Turkish A National Team and Galatasaray in this season. I would be thankful to Galatasaray's President Ünal Aysal and the club for giving permission to their coach for this job. The new period in Turkish football has begun.''

"I would like to thank the Turkish Football Federation for the faith they have shown in me and for allowing me to carry on at Galatasaray," said Fatih Terim. Then he continued his speeches as: "You can't escape the responsibility of leading your country. However, without team work nothing is possible. Everyone needs to pull together to help us achieve our goal. I hope to build a team that can qualify for this World Cup and more to come."

Fatih Terim's Coaching Career:

Fatih Terim embarked on his managerial career at Ankaragücü in 1987 and went on coaching Göztepe. In 1990, he took charge over Turkey U21 team winning the Mediterranean Games with the squad in 1993. Terim steered Turkey to their maiden UEFA European Championship appearance in 1996.

Since 1996 till 2000, Terim was in charge of Galatasaray leading the club to the Süper Lig victory in each of his four seasons with the club. In the 1999/2000 season he led the club to glorious UEFA Cup victory against Arsenal in the final. In the 2000/01 season, Fatih Terim coached the Italian side Fiorentina and in 2001 he had a short coaching spell at AC Milan.

In 2002, Terim returned to Galatasaray until 2004. In 2005, he was appointed as a head coach of the Turkey A National team again and repeated the qualifying achievement during his second spell in charge as the side reached the semi-finals of UEFA EURO 2008.

After his quit in 2009 from A National Team, Fatih Terim took charge over Galatasaray for a third time in 2011 and won Turkish Super League championship title in last two seasons that also reached to quarter final in UEFA Champions League in last season.
