Cüneyt Çakır, TFF's FIFA Referee, has been invited to officiate matches in FIFA Club World Cup which will be held in Japan on 6-16 December 2012. With this, Çakır will represent UEFA in a referee-level in the tournament which will be the first time in history of Turkish football.

Alongside with Cüneyt Çakır, Bahattin Duran and Tarık Ongun who are TFF's FIFA Assistant Referees, will also join the tournament with Çakır as an assistant referees of the games which Cüneyt Çakır will officiate.

FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2012 games will be played in Toyota and Yokohama Stadium's and Chelsea (England) from Europe region, 2011/12 UEFA Champions League Champions, CF Monterrey (Mexico) from Middle-North America region, CONCACAF Champions League holders, SC Corinthians Paulista (Brazil) from South America region, previous Copa Libertadores winners, Auckland City FC (New Zealand) from Oceania region, last O-League champions will be the participant teams of the tournament. Besides, the qualified team of the tournament from Asia region will be decided on 10 November; while from Africa region on 17 November and the participant team from Japan, the host country, will be decided on 1 December 2012.

Information about Cüneyt Çakır:

Cüneyt Çakır, who was raised from UEFA 1st Category to UEFA Elite Category, started to his refereeing career in 1994 and became FIFA Referee in 2006. He officiates Turkish Super League matches since 2001. Besides, Çakır had officiated in important international tournaments such as 2006-07 UEFA U19 European Championship, 2008-09 UEFA U21 European Championship Semi-Final, 2010 UEFA Europa League Semi-Final Second Leg, 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup, 2011-2012 UEFA Champions League Semi-Final Second Leg (Barcelona-Chelsea) and EURO 2012 (Includes  the semi-final between Spain and Portugal).
