U16 National Team, coached by Abdullah Ercan, was defeated by Russia 3-2 in their first match of Victor Bannikov Cup which is held in Ukraine. The match was played in Obukhiv Stadium, Ukraine and Turkey's goals came from Hasan Karakaş (Min. 18) and Hisamettin Yener (Min. 68). While, Aleksey Kurzenev (Min. 10 and 22) and Roman Toropov (Min. 54) hit the target for Russia.

In the day's other match of the group, Italy drew 0-0 against Poland.

U16s will face Italy in their second match of the cup on 16 June 2011 Thursday at 16.00 with Turkish local time.
