Turkish Football Federation (TFF) president Mahmut Özgener has announced he will not stand for re-election in the TFF Congress on 29 June with a press conference at Mövenpick Hotel in Istanbul today.

"I hold this press conference to declare my decision not to stand for re-election and share it with the public. I have decided to call time on this honorable duty which I've been continuing since 2008" Özgener said.

Özgener added his primary reason for taking that decision:

"The city that I live, Izmir and TFF's headquarters in Istanbul are quite distant each other. Certainly, this made a negative effect on my family life. Consequently, I quit my post at my own will as TFF president and I believe this happens for the first time at our federation.''

TFF Congress will be held in Ankara, capital city of Turkey, on 29 June 2011 Wednesday at 11.00 with Turkish local time.
