U21 National Team squad, coached by Raşit Çetiner, gained a distinctive win against Liechtenstein by 6-1 in their first match of 2011-13 UEFA European U21 Championship Qualifying Round Group 7. The match was played in Sivas 4 Eylül Stadium, Sivas, Turkey and Turkey's goals came from Ali Kuçik (Min.16), Şahin Aygüneş (Min.28), Serdar Aziz (Min.41), Emre Çolak (P) (Min.56), Özgür Çek (Min.69) and Savaş Yılmaz (Min.84) while, Niklas Kieber (Min.60) scored the Liechtenstein's only goal.

Turkey will face Liechtenstein again in their second match of the qualifying group on 2 September 2011 at away.

52 teams will take part in qualifying, with the teams split into ten groups, two of six teams and eight of five. The ten group winners and four best runners-up will advance to the play-offs to determine the seven sides that join hosts Israel in the finals in June 2013.
