Gaziantepspor's German Under-21 international forward Cenk Tosun has committed to play for Turkey in the senior level.

Cenk, whose performance was being closely followed by Turkish national team's coaching staff, accepted an offer he received following a meeting with Turkey Head Coach Guus Hiddink, Assistant Head Coach Oğuz Çetin and Administrative Coordinator Okan Buruk. Gaziantepspor president İbrahim Kızıl and head coach Tolunay Kafkas also played a role in the meeting process.

Upon Cenk's decision, Turkish Football Federation has launched the required legal procedures which would allow the player for Turkish National Team. Following the completion of this process, Cenk will be officially cleared to play for Turkey in the presence of FIFA.

Born in the German city of Wetlzar, 1991, Cenk Tosun started his football career at SG Praunheim in 1993/94 season. Shortly after he moved to SV 07 Raunheim before joining Eintracht Frankfurt in 1997. Cenk, who was promoted to the senior squad in 2009, caught the eye by scoring 11 goals in 13 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt II and signing for Gaziantepspor on a three-and-a-half-year contract in the January transfer period. Young player, who was previously capped for Germany in U19 and U21 level, recently played for German Under-21 team against Greece on 9 February.
