Turkey Head Coach Guus Hiddink said his side would play attacking football attacking football in parallel to the offensive character of Turkish football, after officially starting duty as of 1 August.

Making a press conference ahead of this evening's friendly match against Romania in Istanbul, Hiddink gave clues about the future of the national team.

"We have decided on a 30-man provisional squad and made our final selection taking into injuries, suspensions and form levels. I don't like radical changes and change my team whenever it is an essential requirement" he said.

Saying that his coaching staff is following several players both in Turkey and abroad, 63-year-old coach added: "We don't have a static squa and  it will be open to surprises."

Hiddink also addressed how his playing mentality and strategy will be at the national team. "We will have a flexible system. We are a team who like to play attacking football. But you need to do good defending while trying to play like this. Otherwise, you can't play entertaining football and get positive results. Our style will reflect discipline and creative sides of our players. We won't wait for our opponents to make mistakes but we'll force them to do so. It will also be important what we should do when we don't have the ball. You'll never see Turkey playing with five defenders, lots of defensive midfielders and a single forward. Maybe we'll take risks at the beginning, but good results will come and more people will feel an attachment to the national side." he explained.

Interestingly, Hiddink's first match in charge coincided with Romania who were the first ever opponents of Turkey senior team when the two sides met in 1923.

International players Emre Belözoğlu and Nuri Şahin said Romania game would be a serious test ahead of next month's EURO 2012 qualifying matches against Kazakhstan and Belgium.

Meanwhile, defenders İbrahim Kaş and Sabri Sarıoğlu have been removed from the squad because of their injuries, while Fenerbahçe's Caner Erkin and Gaziantepspor's Emre Güngör were called up for cover.
