Turkey lost 2-1 to Spain in their opening match at UEFA European U19 Championship finals at Illychivets Stadium in the city of Mariupol.

Although Turkey took the lead courtesy of a Eren Albayrak strike 12 minutes into the game, Spain turned the tables in the game with two strikes from Falque (49, p) and San Martin (51).

In the competition which is hosted by Ukraine, four other games were played. In Group B, Serbia held France to a 1-1 draw and in Group A England were held by Switzerland with the same score, while Ukraine-Slovenia match ended goalless.

Turkey will meet France on 24 July Friday for their second match in the tournament.
