31 BURSA Bursa, famous for its natural features, is known as the Green City. Having been the capital of the Ottoman Empire for a certain period, Bursa was awarded Unesco World Heritage status in 2014. In Bursa, the fourth-largest Turkish city, many of the main attractions are located in the very walkable city centre, making it easy to get from one end of the city to the other in about a half an hour by public transport. With a population of more than two million, Bursa is large enough to have all the amenities of a modern big city. Visitors can enjoy the markets, the soaring peaks of Mt Uludağ, Turkey's premier ski resort, and Çekirge's thermal hamams en route. Bursa Stadium opened its doors to football fans on 21 December 2015, with a capacity of 43,761. The most remarkable aspect of the stadium is its green roof in the form of a crocodile, which is the symbol of Bursaspor. .
